Background

  • The Faculty of Engineering celebrates its 75 th anniversary soon. There is a well-focused initiative by PEFAA (Peradeniya Engineering Faculty Alumni Association) to address urgent faculty improvement needs.
  • Our beloved Faculty has given us so much knowledge and skill that also enabled us to live a quality life. This is an initiative of our batch to support the PEFAA call for support the ‘Faculty Improvement Project’ being planned and to be implemented by PEFAA.

Purpose

  • PEFAA Initiative: Support facelift and learning process improvements for the 75th anniversary celebrations.
  • Batch ’76-80 Contribution: Compared to other batches, we haven’t contributed as a group, though many have contributed individually. It’s time to take up one or two projects identified by PEFA. It is available in https://pefaa76.online/needs/.
  • Please join: Considering how much we’ve gained from the faculty, this is a small way to give back.

Procedure

  • Pledge Amounts:
    • Pledge whatever you can comfortably contribute. The following guidlines were adopted at the Colombo first meeting.
    • Foreign resident alumni: Rs. 100,000
    • Sri Lanka resident alumni: Rs. 25,000
  • Confidentiality: Names and amounts will only be shared with PEFAA.
  • Deadline: Submit your pledges by 17th July, 2024. Contributions will have to come later.
  • Submission: Pledges will be compiled and submitted to PEFAA. The final project will be selected by PEFAA based on the total amount pledged and commitments from other batches.
  • Tracking and Pledging: Visit https://pefaa76.online to:
    • Make your pledge via the ‘pledge’ menu item. Write your pledge amount in Sri Lankan Rupees equivalent.
    • Track the current level of pledges via the ‘PEFAA 76 Pledges’ menu item.
  • Payment: At this time, we only need your pledge. After the project selection, you’ll be informed of the PEFAA account details to make your deposit directly. For payments, use any currency but indicate ‘pefaa 76 your name’ on the payment slip.
  • Feedback: Use the contact page for any comments or suggestions.
  • Committee Members: A group of us will carry out this task on behalf of our batch. Any one of you’re welcome to join us. If interested please respond before 16 July 2024. Please disseminate this information among our batch mates as widely as possible.
